What is the best part of being an ophthalmologist?
The best part of being an ophthalmologist is the privilege of making a difference in the quality and length of life for patients with eye cancer, through caring directly for my patients and by making discoveries that benefit patients everywhere.
What motivates you?
I am motivated to use my medical, scientific and problem-solving skills to discover innovative new solutions for patients with eye cancer and other serious eye diseases.
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievements are my two daughters! However my proudest professional achievement is having the privilege of leading the laboratory responsible for many of the most important recent discoveries in eye cancer – including the most accurate prognostic test available for ocular melanoma, which is benefiting thousands of patients every year.
What do you hope to achieve in the next ten years?
In the next ten years, I hope to harness emerging technologies to develop innovative solutions to persistent challenges in the care of patients with eye cancer and other serious eye diseases.
