Tiarnán Keenan

Tiarnán studied medicine at Oxford University, and became interested in AMD during his integrated academic-clinical ophthalmology training. As a Fight for Sight Clinical Fellow at the University of Manchester, he researched the biochemistry of ageing in the macula, and discovered a potential new AMD disease mechanism. He then spent a year at the Moran Eye Center, Utah, USA, and used an extensive human eye repository to perform the first published study of pure chromosome 1-directed AMD.
