On Monday October 12th, we hosted our second Live Residents Roundtable. This time our international panel discussed what it means to be a resident today. Our group – hailing from Mexico, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Germany and Morocco – gave their take on modern residency and shared tips and tricks on getting through those early years unscathed.

Imane Tarib, 5th Year Resident at the University Hospital Ibn Sina, Rabat, Morrocco (moderator)

Lena Beckers, 1st Year Resident at Breyer, Kaymak & Klabe Eye Surgery Medical Practice, Düsseldorf, Germany

Lorenz Kuske, Glaucoma Fellow at the University Eye Hospital, Basel, Switzerland

Atanas Yuliyanov Bogoev, 4th Year Resident at the Vision Eye Clinic, Sofia, Bulgaria

Ana Silvia Serrano-Ahumada, Cornea Fellow at Oftalmologos Mozo, Barranquilla, Colombia

Is there a topic you would like us to cover in an upcoming rountable? Let us know in the comments. Want to be on our next panel? Email edit@theophthalmologist.com – we would love to hear from you.

About the Author(s)

Phoebe Harkin

I’ve always loved telling stories. So much so, I decided to make a job of it. I finished a Masters in Magazine Journalism and spent three years working as a creative copywriter before itchy feet sent me (back)packing. It took seven months and 13 countries, but I’m now happily settled on The Ophthalmologist, where I’m busy getting stuck into all things eyeballs.
