Coastal Eye Associates (Houston, TX) has announced the addition of comprehensive ophthalmologist Dr. Sanchay Gupta to its physician team, effective Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Dr. Gupta is a surgically trained ophthalmologist specializing in advanced technology cataract surgery, including extended depth of focus and multifocal lens options, femtosecond laser-assisted surgery and astigmatism correction. He also diagnoses and treats a wide range of eye conditions, including glaucoma, dry eye disease, pterygium, diabetic eye disease and eyelid concerns.
Dr. Gupta earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Stanford University before receiving his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Baylor College of Medicine Cullen Eye Institute, where he served as chair of the Department of Ophthalmology's Surgical Education Committee. During his training at Texas Medical Center, he performed thousands of clinical and surgical procedures while caring for patients with a wide range of complex eye conditions.
Recognized nationally for his innovation, research and leadership, Dr. Gupta has received numerous honors, including the Visionary in Eye Care Award from Ophthalmology Times, the MIT Sloan Healthcare Innovation Prize and first place in the Harvard President's Innovation Challenge. He has also authored peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters and founded a medical device company focused on developing life-saving technologies.
