Sight Sciences has announced the commercial availability of the OMNI Ultra Surgical System, the latest addition to its implant-free glaucoma surgery platform, ahead of its debut at the 2026 American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
The new system builds on the company's existing OMNI platform, combining canaloplasty and trabeculotomy in a single device designed to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in adults with primary open-angle glaucoma.
OMNI Ultra enables surgeons to perform canaloplasty around the circumference of Schlemm's canal in a single pass, followed by trabeculotomy. The system is designed to address three areas associated with resistance in the conventional aqueous outflow pathway: the trabecular meshwork, Schlemm's canal, and the collector channels.
The device also incorporates Sight Sciences' TruSync Plus technology, which automatically delivers viscoelastic during both advancement and retraction of the microcatheter during canaloplasty. Enhanced catheter visualization is intended to provide surgeons with greater visibility and control during treatment.
OMNI Ultra can be used as a standalone minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) procedure or in combination with cataract surgery. Like previous versions of the platform, the procedure is performed through a clear corneal microincision and does not leave an implant within the eye.
Zarmeena Vendal, cataract and glaucoma surgeon and an OMNI Ultra pre-launch user, said the updated system provides greater procedural flexibility while retaining the features of the established OMNI platform.
"I have relied on the OMNI Surgical System for eight years now and can still appreciate how OMNI Ultra builds on a proven technology platform with even more versatility and procedural flexibility," she said.
The launch follows the expansion of the OMNI platform in recent years. In 2021, the technology received an expanded US Food and Drug Administration clearance for use in adult patients with primary open-angle glaucoma.
Sight Sciences will demonstrate OMNI Ultra at booth #1237 during AAO, which takes place from October 9–12, 2026.
The company will also use the meeting to preview Clearance Assistant Plus, a new tool for its TearCare dry eye platform. The dual-action device is designed to support both meibomian gland expression and eyelid debridement as part of treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction.
Sight Sciences will host demonstrations and educational sessions relating to both its glaucoma and dry eye technologies throughout the meeting.
