The Retina Clinic London has appointed Mr. Christos Koutsidis, Consultant Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic Surgeon, as it expands its specialist cataract and medical retina capability, reflecting growing demand for integrated management of patients with complex ophthalmic presentations.
Mr. Koutsidis brings more than 10 years of international clinical experience across the UK, Greece, Germany, and Russia. His appointment strengthens The Retina Clinic London’s expertise across medical retina, uveitis, glaucoma, anterior segment disease, cataract surgery, and pterygia treatment.
Professor Paulo Eduardo Stanga, Founder and Chief Medical Officer of The Retina Clinic London, commented: “Demand is increasing for specialist and personalized assessment of patients whose cataract surgery planning is influenced by retinal disease, inflammatory eye conditions, previous ocular interventions or complex visual requirements. As ophthalmic care becomes increasingly subspecialized, there is growing value in bringing cataract, medical retina, and advanced imaging expertise together within a single clinical pathway.
Christos brings exactly that combination of skills. His experience spans cataract surgery, medical retina, vitreoretinal imaging and complex ophthalmic disease, making him exceptionally well-placed to support both patients and referring clinicians managing challenging cases."
.At The Retina Clinic London, Mr. Koutsidis will contribute to an integrated ophthalmic model supported by advanced diagnostics, the latest multimodal imaging, on-site operating theater, and specialist retinal expertise.
Mr. Koutsidis said: “This is an exciting time in ophthalmology. Advances in retinal imaging, diagnostics and treatment are changing how we assess and manage patients with increasingly complex needs, while expectations around visual outcomes continue to rise."
