On Monday June 22, we hosted our first Live Residents Roundtable. This 90 minute discussion saw an international panel share the realities of residency during COVID-19, covering everything from the role young ophthalmologists have to play in the pandemic to the long-term implications of COVID-19 on training, as well as tips on staying positive in the face of adversity. Watch it below now.
Our speakers included:
Imane Tarib, 5th Year Resident at the University Hospital Ibn Sina, Rabat, Morrocco (moderator)
Atanas Yuliyanov Bogoev, 4th Year Resident at the Vision Eye Clinic, Sofia, Bulgaria
Valentina Gracia Rey, 2nd Year Resident at Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia
Reza Moradi, 3rd Year Resident at the California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco, USA
Henal Javeri, 3rd Year Resident at Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya Hospital, Guwahati, Assam, India
Anesu Madikane, 4th Year Resident at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, University of Pretoria, South Africa
Our panelists represent six countries, with six unique sets of circumstances, but their experiences are bound by a common thread. We hope you find comfort in their words as you navigate your own way through residency. If you have any questions for our panelists or thoughts on your own experience as a resident, please get in touch. We would love to hear from you.
