Three Decades of Innovation in Europe

sponsored by TOMEY GmbH

It’s not easy to be successful in business for any period of time – let alone 30 years, but ophthalmic diagnostic instrument specialist TOMEY GmbH is celebrating three great decades in Europe.

As the 30-year milestone approaches, TOMEY GmbH is looking to solidify its already strong position in the market and bring the company into even sharper focus amongst ophthalmologists, optometrists, and opticians worldwide. The main emphasis? Continuing to ensure that TOMEY’s specialist precision diagnostic instruments remain the most accurate, convenient, and comfortable devices for patients and clinicians alike – a mission that spans all areas of comprehensive ophthalmology and demands continued innovation.

Christa Papesch, general manager for TOMEY GmbH, explains the company’s health and longevity: “It’s not only the high quality of our products that ensures such long-term success. It’s also the strong collaborative spirit among our employees; they all love what they do and are passionate about it.”

“The unique TOMEY spirit is what has enabled our company to grow as it has over the years,” explains Papesch. “Whether through face-to-face customer contact, virtual meetings, or product training, all of our partners, service providers, and dealers are greeted by our extraordinary enthusiasm every day.”

It’s not only the high quality of our products that ensures such long-term success. It’s also the strong collaborative spirit among our employees; they all love what they do and are passionate about it.

From Nuremberg to the big wide world

TOMEY’s product range is centered on ophthalmic diagnostics and medical devices that are commonly used for contactless measurements in biometry, pachymetry, and intraocular pressure, as well as refraction and perimetry. In particular, TOMEY’s imaging products, such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus cameras, and Scheimpflug cameras have an excellent reputation among eye care specialists. Refraction units and instrument tables round out TOMEY’s one-stop-shop portfolio.

The European headquarters of TOMEY Corporation, a Japanese technology company, began operations in Erlangen, Germany, in 1991. Since 2011, TOMEY has also had a licensing agreement with Rodenstock GmbH in Munich for the distribution of diagnostic instruments under the RODENSTOCK Instruments brand. RODENSTOCK Instruments has since become successfully integrated into TOMEY GmbH as an expanded business unit.
In 2016, TOMEY GmbH moved into a spacious new building in the north of Nuremberg to accommodate steadily growing sales and an expanding workforce. From here, nearly 50 team members coordinate the distribution of products in more than 80 countries across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

New image; same commitment

To coincide with TOMEY GmbH’s 30th anniversary in Europe, the company has unveiled a fresh brand image that represents the company’s commitment to state-of-the-art technology and dedication to customer satisfaction. As part of the update, TOMEY GmbH has developed a light and uncluttered website to represent the ease and clarity of working with TOMEY medical devices. Aside from the design, the website features the latest news, engaging blog posts, and an extensive network of TOMEY’s partners – and the new user interface will make browsing and discovering the comprehensive range of products easier than ever before.

But Papesch is also keen to highlight what will not change; namely, TOMEY GmbH’s strong relationship with distributors and customers alike: “We stay in close contact with our distributors. We’re there when they need us – always delivering exceptional quality. And that’s the message we will continue to communicate – but even more emphatically – in the years ahead.”

TOMEY GmbH can certainly look back on the last 30 years with pride, but it’s clear the company is very much focused on the years ahead. “With cutting-edge technology and the indomitable TOMEY spirit, we are in an excellent position for the future,” concludes Papesch.
