An Ultrawide View of the Retina

iCare’s new UWF Module expands the EIDON Family’s perspective even further

iCare, a trusted ophthalmic technology company, owes its success to listening carefully to the needs of eye doctors and patients. The company develops its products in collaboration with customers, industry leaders, and world-class researchers. Driving iCare forward is the spirit of innovation, creativity and enthusiasm paired with exceptional expertise and market experience.

The company’s EIDON Ultra-Widefield imaging helps clinicians more comprehensively evaluate the retina using realistic visualizations of the retina that are simply not available in other modalities. Thanks to TrueColor Confocal technology, the same excellent image quality – lifelike colors, high resolution and sharpness – is available from the posterior pole to the periphery.

The latest iCare innovation to join the EIDON Family is the Ultra-Widefield (UWF) Module, which allows surgeons to gain an even wider view of the retina to gain even more information about the signs of pathologies in the periphery. The Module can capture 120 image of the retina in a single shot – and ̊ even up to 200 with the Mosaic functionality. ̊

Thankfully, the new module enhances the widefield capability of the whole iCare EIDON Family; in other words, EIDON devices already on the market can be upgraded with the UWF Module in all available imaging modalities (TrueColor, Infrared, Autofluorescence and Fluorescein Angiography - including video acquisition).

The Module includes a very light (34 g) lens that is very easy to handle, thanks to the protection cap. And acquisition is fast – 200° in one minute, increasing patient comfort – and fully automated, so special operator skill is not required.

Thanks to a much easier acquisition of the peripheral retina, signs of pathologies located in the periphery, including tumors, retinal tears, diabetic retinopathies, and all other peripheral lesions that may have previously remained hidden, are now in full view. And that means earlier diagnosis and treatment, and – ultimately – improved patient outcomes.

The new iCare EIDON UWF Module is now available for purchase. Please note that not all products or services are approved or offered in every market and approved labeling and instructions may vary from one country to another. Specifications are subject to change without notice for improvement, as a result of ongoing technical developments.
