What area of research do you find most exciting right now?

There is currently an extraordinary opportunity to use AI applied to ophthalmic imaging for detection and prognosis of neurological and/or or systemic diseases.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

If I had to start ophthalmology again, I would definitely dedicate more time to master data science and gain more knowledge related to novel technologies and innovation.

It is a truism to state that these areas will deeply reshape ophthalmology in the next few years, but the young generations need nevertheless to be better prepared…
