About Roger Zaldivar

Nominator’s Comments:

“Roger Zaldivar is deeply committed to community service. He has volunteered his time and expertise to provide free eye care in underserved communities and has been a vocal advocate for healthcare access and equity. He leads the Zaldivar Foundation, created in 1990, is a non-profit institution whose mission is the ophthalmological care of children and adults who lack medical coverage. Since 2024, the Zaldivar Foundation provided free ophthalmological services to more than 10,000 underserved patients in Argentina.”

“Roger is [also] the founder of ICLguru project, a software solution [that] delivers an automatic phakic IOL sizing recommendation supported by AI processing. This unique cloud-based solution, due to its ability in determining the best ICL size, considering patient's eye configuration prior [to] surgery and the potential changes of the irido-corneal angles after it, is growing exponentially in adoption, with more than 180 clinics in 60 countries. The disruption in the solution relies on its capacity to avoid important sizing outliers, taking phakic IOL’s safety profile to the next level [and] allowing more suboptimal (in terms of anatomy) patients to benefit from this technology.”
