I’ve published four novels, including the Stone Waverly Trilogy action adventure series that has won several awards.

If you weren’t an ophthalmologist, what would you be doing instead?

Playing third base for the Los Angeles Dodgers – or lead singer for The Doors rock revival band.

How do you think AI and machine learning will impact the field?

I’m generally less optimistic about the impact artificial intelligence will have on our field. It will be good for things like IOL calculations, but original creative thought will remain a characteristic of humans.
