The number of patients needing eye care is outgrowing the number of practising ophthalmologists, ultimately leading to a limited access to eye care in many regions of the world and a further rise in unnecessary blindness.

Predictions for your field…

Many functions normally ascribed to the physician, such as diagnostics, treatment planning, as well as tracking of disease progression, will be most likely replaced by machines using AI in the near future.
