What is your proudest professional achievement?

Training dozens of residents and fellows, who have gone on to become outstanding ophthalmologists and make significant contributions to our field.

Why is it important to celebrate women in the field this way?

We need to encourage young women to pursue careers in ophthalmology and know that their contributions can, and will, make a difference.

What can be done to make the field more diverse? 

We should be actively encouraging a diverse group of doctors to train in ophthalmology so that they can better represent and understand the patients we care for. We should also ensure that conference panels and key opinion leaders are inclusive of women.

Outside of ophthalmology, what makes you happy?

Spending time with my family, friends, and our new puppy.
