Why is it important to celebrate women in ophthalmology with this list?

The composition of ophthalmology is changing, with more women entering residency. It is important to fuel their ambitions by introducing women as leaders in the field.

What can be done to make the field more diverse?

Medicine is about our patients. Their doctors should reflect the diversity of the population. Women are half of that equation.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

I am proud to have chaired the American Board of Ophthalmology and served as president of two professional societies in the sub-specialty of uveitis.
