The Power List 2018

Bala Ambati

Professor of Ophthalmology, Moran Eye Center, University of Utah, Ut, USA

Bala is the world’s youngest person to graduate from medical school at the age of 17; since specializing in ophthalmology he has received many awards – including being ranked #1 on our Top 40 Under 40 Power List in 2015). Experienced in anterior segment surgery, his research focuses on ocular angiogenesis and the cornea; his group was the first to identify that sVEGFR-1 normally keeps the cornea clear of blood vessels. Bala also routinely volunteers in humanitarian projects.
