Ursula Schmidt-Erfurth founded the Vienna Study and Vienna Reading Centers, which respectively run clinical trials and perform the digital image analysis for them. In addition to leading one of the largest European academic institutions in ophthalmology, Schmidt-Erfurth has a keen interest in the development of novel diagnostic techniques such a retinal imaging, and novel treatment strategies, including intravitreal pharmacotherapy.
