Centre for Sight will mark its 30th anniversary with a specialist ophthalmology conference bringing together leading surgeons, clinicians and industry innovators to explore the future of vision care. The conference brings together some of the leading clinicians in eye care from around the world.
The one-day event, “30 Years of Vision: Crafting the Next Decade,” will take place on June 5, 2026 at Alexander House Hotel in West Sussex, UK. The conference will examine how ophthalmology has evolved over the past three decades and the technologies, skills and business models set to shape the next.
Founded in 1996 by consultant ophthalmic surgeon and 2026 Ophthalmologist Power Lister Sheraz M. Daya, Centre for Sight has been at the forefront of refractive and cataract surgery in the UK, pioneering advances in laser vision correction and patient centered care.
The conference program will feature keynote reflections, expert panels and peer discussion covering innovation in refractive surgery, emerging technologies including AI, changing patient expectations and the future of premium ophthalmic practice.
Daya commented: “Over the past 30 years ophthalmology has seen remarkable transformation driven by technology, research and the dedication of clinicians committed to improving vision and quality of life. This conference is an opportunity to reflect on that journey, share insights with colleagues and look ahead to the innovations that will define the next decade of patient care.”
Program highlights include:
Technologies That Influence Change: Panel session including global key opinion leaders Arthur Cummings, Erik Mertens, Andrew Webb, and Aylin Kiliç, examining the technologies that have transformed refractive and cataract surgery over the past three decades.
Ophthalpreneurs – What’s Missing?  Led by Amanda and Francesco Carones, this discussion focuses on the entrepreneurial side of ophthalmology. Panelists will explore where innovation is still needed across patient experience, technology development and practice management, and how clinicians can help drive meaningful change both inside and outside the operating theater.
Influences Over the Next 10 Years: Hear from leading international experts such as Milind Pande, Michael Mrochen, Pei-Fen Lin, and Andrea Russo, with topics including the impact of AI, private equity investment in healthcare, evolving patient expectations and the implications of longer life expectancy on demand for vision correction and cataract care.
