This is Your Power List

Who do you believe are “the drivers of change” right now?

Now in its 13th iteration, The Ophthalmologist’s annual Power List has seen many illustrious faces adorn its pages over the decade-plus when it was initially conceived as a celebration of “the 100 most influential people working in ophthalmology.”

Since 2014, the Power List has taken on a variety of forms – last year we divided the list into five categories (Cataract & Refractive, Glaucoma, Retina, Research, and Innovation); in 2021 we dedicated the list exclusively to the 100 most influential women in ophthalmology; and in 2015 we concentrated on the “Top 40 Under 40.”

In all of these forms, one theme has remained consistent throughout the years: the Power List’s unwavering focus on spotlighting the individuals who are shaping how ophthalmology moves forward.

We are very much aware of the importance of the Power List, and the debates and discussions it provokes each year – “who’s made the list, who’s not” – but it always provides insight into the current state of the industry. Scan through the given names of any year and you will see both time-honored and emerging trends represented in these profiles.

For 2026, we are stepping things up again, with the Power List subtitled “Drivers of Change.” We've left it up to you, our discerning readers, to interpret this as you wish, but we are keen to highlight those individuals whose impact is “moving the needle on the way ophthalmology is practiced, accessed, or thought about” in the last 12 months…

Nominations close November 30, 2025 – so if you haven’t already done so, please do propose your candidate at this link.

We really look forward to seeing the names you select for 2026!
