Moorfields South has launched a new surgical pathway for osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis (OOKP) at St. George’s Hospital, London, marking a significant advancement in treating severe corneal blindness. The first patient underwent the procedure successfully, achieving full vision after two surgical stages. OOKP, also known as 'tooth-in-eye' surgery, is aimed at patients unsuitable for corneal transplants due to severe ocular surface damage.
