David Steve Chin Yee
Dr. David Steve Chin Yee, MD, FASRS Vitreoretinal Surgeon & Physician Partner, Georgia Retina
Dr. David Steve Chin Yee was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, where he lived until the age of 16 before immigrating to the United States. He went on to graduate at the top of his class from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in South Florida.
Dr. Chin Yee earned his Bachelor of Science degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami. During his undergraduate studies, his senior project — a novel eye drop holder — earned him the award for most outstanding senior design project, along with an Invention Disclosure with the University.
He then attended the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he founded a medical mission to his home country of Jamaica. Following medical school, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System, followed by a residency in Ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. During his residency, he was elected by his peers to serve as Chief Resident in his final year.
Dr. Chin Yee went on to complete a fellowship in medical and surgical retina at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes Hospital/BJC in St. Louis, Missouri. While in St. Louis, he was honored with the prestigious Golden Apple Award, given for outstanding dedication and contribution to resident education by his residents and peers.
Dr. Chin Yee currently serves as a Vitreoretinal Surgeon and Physician Partner at Georgia Retina, where he also holds the role of Director of Clinical Trials.
Dr. Chin Yee is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, and the Ophthalmological Society of the West Indies.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Chin Yee enjoys playing soccer, tennis, and golf, and has a special interest in cars. Above all, he treasures time spent with his wife, son, and daughter.
