Bradley Straatsma
Bradley Straatsma is Professor of Ophthalmology Emeritus at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is widely acclaimed as a pioneer in the study of peripheral retinal disease, investigations of tumors and research on ophthalmic conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and cataract. His long career saw him achieve great things, and he has held many leadership positions over the years – notably, Straatsma was the last president of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, and oversaw its division which led the formation of the AAO. He has more than 550 scientific publications to his name, and has received over 75 honors and awards to date.
