Gerhard Zinser has contributed to many key advances in imaging technology, including confocal microscopy, scanning lasers and optics, OCT and software image analysis. The resulting diagnostic instruments have changed clinical practice for retinal disease, glaucoma and corneal pathologies. According to a nominator, “He is responsible for several of the major diagnostic imaging innovations in ophthalmology. Further, he is actively involved in cutting-edge research and in sponsoring innovative activities that will translate into major products in the coming decade.”
